Welcome to Year 4
"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela.
Welcome to Year 4: a year of fun, growth and increasing independence and responsibility. We nurture a student-centred approach to learning, allowing the children to choose their own activities and reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses. 'Working Together' and sharing ideas and learning is at the heart of all that we do allowing the children to build confidence, take ownership of their learning and become much more independent along the way. As Mother Teresa said "I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things."
In Year 4, we cover lots of subjects throughout the school year, teaching a variety of topics that will enthuse and excite the children right across the curriculum. We nurture and promote a love of reading, opening the children up to high quality texts and snippets of information that encourage them to ask questions, make inferences, challenge and make sense of the world around them. This is linked into our writing, topic work and other subjects.
All children are encouraged to work to the very best of their ability and give their all, being challenged and supported every step of the way. At the heart of it all, our priority is to ensure every child is happy, safe and learning.
Towards the end of Year 4, the children will complete the MTC (Multiplication Tables Check) online by completing 25 randomly generated times table questions. The children are encouraged to use the class website to continue on their path to becoming independent learners.
