Early reading and phonics is taught at English Martyrs through the scheme Little Wandle: Letters and Sounds.
This is a progressive and well-established scheme that is introduced in Nursery and taught directly in Reception and Year 1 with follow up lessons in Year 2 and in our Key Stage Two classes using the Little Wandle: Rapid Catch Up Programme for any pupil who has gaps in their learning.
Lots of information for parents can be found below on the attached powerpoint and documents.
We encourage all our parents to access the parents section on the Little Wandle website where there are handy links and information sheets to download.
If you have any questions about the phonics progression or teaching of sounds, please speak to your child's class teacher or our early-reading lead, Mrs Dunn.
